He's ready checkin' his lazers!
Our next member in the spotlight is well known to have a Full Inbox on the SGA site, you may or may not know about him, but you will now!

Even the baby's like, WHO IS THIS GUY?

Who do you play in Semper Vigilans?
A priest named Serenitis mostly. Wink I have a host full of alts in there as well including Crykol, Serenity, Destiniah, Demonsky and a couple others I can't remember.

What is your real name?
Steven Harkema

Where are you from?
Jasper, Alberta, Canada. It's a National Park, and also a bubble of a town.

How did you get started with WoW?
About a month after I contracted a serious illness and was told I'd be off work for 2 months and be sick for probably a couple years being unable to do a lot of physical activity I decided to pick up WoW because it was easy to do and I would need something to occupy my time whilst I was awake. I was also planning on going to University so my Girlfriend at the time bought a copy as well and we would use it to chat and hang out while I was away.

How did you get involved with SV in the first place?
My brother, Pukey (now retired from WoW) had been playing the game a lot and an old work mate of his, Peter aka Zaknall told him to come join the guild he was helping make called Semper Vigilans. I pretty much followed my brother around from guild to guild because he spent A LOT of time on the game and I couldn't get in to it much because I hated leveling. My only reason to play was really to hang out with my brother since he liked it so much at the time so I joined him in SV so we could be guilded together. At the time we were pretty small and I was playing my hunter Crykol almost exclusively. Once I finally hit level 60 after quiting the game twice I really got hooked on it - though my brother paid me 1500g at the time to level up and get back playing... You can send him hate mail for me still playing today if you want!

What do you do when you are not playing WoW?
I write a lot of music and try to go for hikes now and again. I also like to spend time playing racket sports, especially Badminton. Because I've been starting to feel a bit better from being sick, I've been able to do a lot of things I love again and as such my time on WoW has been shrinking too as a result. I also have been working at a Hospital in a Long Term Care ward for 8 years now, which is what I do for work. I am hoping to be in University this fall again to finish off my RN Degree that I started around the time I first got sick.

Do you have a funny story in SV that you would like to share?
I think the best story I can think of with SV was the original ZG guild runs that we used to do with Numi and Crosby. I used to go to my brother's house every week and we'd play together while his wife watched, while listening to Team Speak and we thought it was the greatest thing ever. I still remember Xb trying to teach Marinn how to tank, Crystal yelling at people to stop breaking her sheeps, Quant's random comments, and calling Fuggle Lenny to annoy him. If only you guys could have heard the stupid comments me and my brother would make at the time... haha...  I think that weekly ZG run might just have been one of my favourite things in all of WoW, simply because of how much fun it was for me and my brother.

Is there anything you would like to say to your peeps in SV?
I'm not always the most vocal person in guild chat, but make no mistake that I love this guild very much and I consider it a home. Smiley

Seren!  Wow.  Most surprising spotlight EVER.  Nice to get to know more about you!  I remember those guild zg runs too.  We had a lot of fun there.  I've found over the time I've been with SV that honestly, the game is no more then an excuse to have a good time with some great people.  Seren, you've definately been one of them.

haha, Turky - you lie! I would get everyone I knew to run you through BT every week if it meant you would come back again. Tongue And Frig I completely agree. My favourite times in WoW have never been when I got x piece of gear or what not, but just laughing and have a great time with friends and great people. I think I got maybe 2 pieces of gear with the guild run in ZG for the 4 months or so I went every week (sometimes twice!) but I still think it was probably the most fun I ever had in this game. Smiley

We should do a nostalgia run one of these weeks and get everyone together and do Naxx 25 and all get on Vent and make ass' of ourselves. Who's in? Turky you better come even if I have to buy you a month long subscription.

Indeed, it is good to see the face behind Mr Raider...   Wink

If the run needs a couple of fill-ins, Toga and I would be honored to help out...

(We miss you, Turkey  Kiss)

heya Sere

It's really nice to know the real person behind the facade. I also fondly remember our ZG runs, we had a lot of fun. We should do a nostalgia run; wait, I think I still have a quest in there!

And here I liked to think of Seren more akin to Chris Angel like.  Semi mysterious and making money somehow no one ever really understood.

Holler somethime bro, I miss running with ya!

He didn't say, but he takes money from the elderly he works with by telling them how good they look tonight.
