XPac Suvival Guide

Here's somethings you should know when Lich King is installed and ready to go. In case you haven't been following sites about it.

- Expect some mods to be broken (again). Because of the new zones and new class (Death Knight), you might experience some weirdness if your mod isn't WotLK ready. You can see a list of mods that are LK ready at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/latest.php?wotlk and most of these work on what we have right now, so go update them before release if you want.

- Expect lag! Northrend Graphics has more textures and lighting effects than Outland! So if you lag really bad in Shattrah, you'll want to turn down your settings for Northrend. Especially in the starting areas. (Remember you have to be 68-70 before you get any quests). Also, if you're planning to play when it comes out at Midnight, expect some lagging from everyone logging into Northrend to play. It'll be frustrating fighting for quest mobs, but at least there are 2 starting points this time.

- Your Arena Points reset when you hit Level 71 OR when Arena Season 5 comes out (December 16), so spend them before you hit either one of those.

- You have to learn how to fly in Northrend and it's only available at level 77. It will cost 1000g. You can still fly in Outland though.

- Riding Crop (and other Mount speed increase items) will no longer work after you hit level 71, Blizzard is coming out with something new but have yet to unveil them.

- Enjoy the new content! It's a breath of fresh air from Outland. The lore is awesome as well, so read the quests!

I learned from the Ahn'Qiraj event: No more attempting to log in immediately for me. I'm going to wait until the afternoon to even pick up my copy. I might even wait a day or two.

No crowds for me!  Right now I got a ship date of the 18th so looks like I have another week or so to level my shammy.  :)

Well I don't want to say we're addicted, but...

Best Buy is opening at midnight just for this so we'll have ours rather quickly...   (The EB store is actually having a party)

I'm also taking a few days off...   ;D

On the other hand, I don't look forward to fighting the crowds for kills...

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

LOL, nooooo Elan and Adelana! You're not addicted at all! Perfectly normal to go out at midnight to pickup a video game.  Also perfectly normal to take a few days of vacation to play a video game!

Looking forward to hearing how your support groups are doing! ;p

See you on Friday (I'm taking Friday off to play :o).

Yeah, it was cheaper for me to get it delivered on the release day than it is to getting it through standard shipping *shrugs*
Oh well, I'm in no rush to play, I've decided that I refuse to spend my birthday playing this damn game. (well, all day anyway)

I will be picking mine up tonight at midnight at Gamestop. I might get there a little early to see what they are doing to celebrate it coming out :)
